Annual Park Tour
Special Meeting Agenda
April 25, 2024 from 8:50 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
In person only. See meeting locations and times below.

8:50 a.m.,
tour Begins
at 9:00.
10:15 a.m Meet in the main parking lot. Tour Briefing.
Walking tour of the park and surrounding
county parcels.
Irondale Community
Park 61 Alma St, Port
Hadlock, WA
10:30 11:15 Meet in the main parking lot. Look at the
fencing, buffers, parking, playground toilet,
athletic fields, irrigation etc.
Irondale Beach Park
562 Moore St, Port
Hadlock, WA
11:30 12:30 p.m. Walking tour of IBP Property and possibly
the WWDF Chimacum Creek Tidelands
Property.
Indian Island Park,
Portage Beach 3456
Flagler Road, Port
Hadlock, WA
12:45 p.m. 2:00 p.m.
Tour ends at
2:00pm
Meet at Portage Beach, directly across from
the entrance to the Naval Magazine. Bring
your own sack lunch in the picnic shelter.
Followed by walking the upland trails to
Lagoon Beach and back. Have a look at the
picnic shelter, the trails, the Lagoon Beach
Parking lot and much more.
If there is time, drive to the new bridge to
Marrowstone Island to see the bridge and
the canal between Marrowstone and Indian
Island.
If time – debrief the tour in an informal
discussion

Submitting Public Comments: Citizens can submit public comments remotely by email regarding items listed in the
agenda below. Board members and staff will read and consider your comments before the meeting. Email your
comments by 12:00pm the day before the meeting using this email address: mtyler@co.jefferson.wa.us

Logistics: Transportation is not provided. Carpools can be arranged informally between members in advance of the
meeting. Please bring water bottle, lunch, appropriate clothing for walking in weather, and footwear. We plan to stop
for lunch at Indian Island, Portage Beach. The picnic shelter has a picnic table but no water. There is a portable toilet at
Portage Beach.
OPMA: The OPMA requires the board to have a quorum or cancel the meeting. It also requires the public to be able to
attend the meeting. Therefore, the board will need to follow the tour schedule.

1. Chimacum Park: board vision for the park, recommendation to
preserve surrounding county owned parcels for possible future park
uses – possibly using zoning changes or other instruments to achieve
this goal; park use and maintenance, picnic shelter replacement,
capital improvement planning, and more.
2. Irondale Community Park: board vision of the park, capital
improvement planning such as playground replacement, park layout
and design improvements such as parking lot and irrigation shed, park
maintenance, park goals, neighborhood, perimeter fencing,
vandalism prevention, and more.
3. Irondale Beach Park: partnership with WDFW, lack of professional
maintenance, success and sustainability of volunteerism, park history,
park use issues, park goals, trails, capital improvement planning, and
more.
4. Indian Island: partnership with WDFW, lack of professional
maintenance, success and sustainability of volunteerism, park use
increases, shelter replacement capital improvement planning,
partnership with US Navy Magazine, natural values, trails, and more.
