We are entering my favorite time of year: the cherry trees are in full blossom, tulips have popped up, and the short cold nights of winter are waning. Spring also means opportunities for CRAB to get out and represent our agency at statewide and national conferences. In early April, four of our staff attended the American Public Works Association (APWA) Spring Conference in Vancouver where I participated in a panel discussing the conclusion of the legislative session and what to expect in the interim. Thanks to the funding we received, I was able to announce that we will be moving forward with our federal fund facilitator pilot program launching later this summer. Look for a position announcement next month and sign up below for program updates. As an agency, we are striving to get our name out there and educate the public about who we are and the services we provide; hosting a booth in the exhibit hall was a great opportunity to meet new faces and see many familiar ones, too. If you were there and we had a chance to see you, thanks for saying hello! Drew Woods and I were also able to join fellow Washington delegates at the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) Annual Conference in Palm Springs. We left 55° Washington for 90° Palm Springs for a week of learning and collaboration. The event is an opportunity for county, engineers and public works officials nationally to come together to share their expertise and coordinate on what is new in the industry. This week, CRAB’s Board of Directors will be in town for our quarterly meeting. We will be hearing from neighboring counties on their activities this past year and have a special presentation from our GIS manager, Cameron Cole on what’s new with our GIS-Mo program.
