Including highlights from our conversation with Philanthropy Northwest <https://jcfgives.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2d958d33b3a756c859d7fa262&id=11b35381c1&e=7023ab5d8e> Dear Friends, This month, we are excited to share information about the fastest growing form of community philanthropy: Giving Circles. A Giving Circle is a group of donors that come together, pool their donations, and decide together what causes to support. Giving Circles are more than just a vehicle for charitable giving; they're a testament to the power of collective action and the boundless potential of human generosity. As we continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of our time, let us embrace the spirit of Giving Circles and work together to create a brighter, more equitable future for all. Whether driven by a passion for a specific issue or a desire to foster community engagement, forming a Giving Circle with JCF's support opens avenues for collective philanthropy that empowers local initiatives and fosters positive change. JCF operates in close collaboration with Giving Circles, leveraging its extensive knowledge of Jefferson County's landscape to amplify their impact. By providing in-depth insights into the challenges and opportunities within the community, as well as comprehensive information about local nonprofits across various sectors, JCF equips Giving Circles with the tools to make grants that truly make a difference. Through meetings and site visits with community organizations, JCF enables Giving Circles to gain firsthand understanding and forge meaningful connections. The Vintage Gratitude Giving Circle (VGGC) is a prime example of how giving, building and solving as a community creates a lasting impact. The group consists of neighbors and friends brought together around the idea of making a meaningful impact on issues affecting youth, young adults, and housing. Seeking insight, ideas, and a broader perspective, they turned to JCF for guidance, tools, and resources. Drawing from the essence of Giving Circles—where neighbors, friends, and family members come together to pool charitable donations and decide collectively on where to allocate funds—the VGGC embarked on a journey of discovery and philanthropy. Their thoughtful approach culminated in impactful grants to initiatives like OWL360’s Nest and YMCA’s Building Futures program, empowering young people and fostering stability in their community. For those inspired to embark on a similar journey of giving and community building, reach out to Jen Kingfisher at jen@JCFgives.org to explore the possibilities of starting your own Giving Circle today.
