MINUTES
8:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023
Jefferson County Courthouse, Commissioners' Chambers
Present: Secretary Sarah Melancon called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. in the
presence of Commissioner Greg Brotherton, Member Howard Scott, and Member
Gary Mikelson.
II Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Brotherton moved to approve the special
meeting minutes of August 291", 2023. Member Gary Mikelson seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
III. Closed Session: The Board scheduled a Closed Session from 8:35 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
with LEOFF I Retirement/Disability Board Secretary to Review and Discuss Health
Care Expenses; Pursuant to RCW 42.30.140(2). Session was extended to 8:50 a.m.
Upon return to the open session, Commissioner Brotherton motioned to approve
reimbursement to Mr. Mefford for ongoing medical bills. Member Howard Scott,
and Member Gary Mikelson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Commissioner Brotherton motioned that as long as there is appropriate
documentation of future medical bills for Mr. Mefford, Jefferson County staff has
the authorization to process payment. Member Gary Mikelson seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
IV. Old Business: Discussion and further research re: Medical Transportation Insurance
for members. The Board discussed researching other LEOFF Boards policies on
payment without reimbursement. Findings will be discussed in the next meeting.
V. New Business: None
VI, Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:58 a.m. The next regular meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, April 91", 2024 at 8:30 a.m.
