Put your state B&O Taxes to work in Port Townsend thru PT Main Street--pledge today! You may know our work from colorful events like Concerts on the Dock, the Uptown Street Fair, the Downtown Trick or Treat Parade, festive holiday events/local shopping promotions, and Creative District efforts. You might enjoy the winter lights in the trees, beautiful hanging flower baskets or the downtown pocket parks like Adams Street Park, or the Tyler Plaza with its overhead lights—all Main Street projects. We just held Earth Day Cleanup, care for the rain gardens, manage two loan programs and this week we are hanging 500 pieces of children’s art in the stores as part of for Art Wave. The Main Street Tax Incentive Program allows businesses to put their state B&O taxes to work locally through the Port Townsend Main Street Program. This is a key source of funding for our 501c3 nonprofit and enables us to put our mission and workplan (with so many programs for our community) into action. Business contributors who wish to participate must sign up each year through the Washington State DOR website. 75% of your contribution is returned to you via B&O tax credits in 2025. The work requires closing the bridge to vehicle traffic, including emergency responders. The closure hours are from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following dates: Monday, May 13 through Saturday, May 18 Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 Tuesday, May 28 through Friday, May 31 Monday, June 3 through Saturday, June 8 Monday, June 10 No construction closures are scheduled over Memorial Day weekend. Construction crews will also replace the center lock mechanisms. This work will happen during the day and the bridge will remain open to traffic for the most part. This work only requires a few short daytime test openings over the course of the four weeks noted above. They are working closely with Washington State Ferries and local EMS partners to ensure everyone is well-informed about these closures. This is an extremely important project – the bridge needs to remain operational not only for the 18,000 daily vehicles trips, but for marine traffic including Department of Defense vessels used for national security. If you have questions about this project, please contact WSDOT. <mailto:Hood Canal Bridge Closure?subject=steve.roark%40wsdot.wa.gov%20> <https://mcusercontent.com/72d728eac0a891fc7cdd75517/images/ac34cf65-129d-1874-df20-da7f2437db5f.jpg> SAVE THE DATE!
