HomeMy WebLinkAbout050224 - Proposed Cement PlantALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Greetings, My family lives and farms only 2 blocks from the proposed cement plant. We are aware that one is needed in the community. As farmers , we can’t imagine a worse project for our small rural area. Farming is already a serious challenge with the water shortage and worker shortages. Adding the health risks and the inevitable dust to the mix would devastate our small farm and our health. We are not the only farm in the area and I know we are not alone in this. Please help place this cement plant where folks are not directly living and farming. Below are some resources for health risks associated with living and working near cement plants. A distance of 5 miles puts one in the serious risk category! Imagine how we feel only a few blocks away. https://scialert.net/fulltext/?doi=rjet.2011.203.212#:~:text=It%20also%20supports%20the%20findings,zone%20(CRRC%2C%202003). <https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30471502/#:~:text=Almost%20all%20the%20studies%20found,also%20reported%20in%20some%20studies> Cement plant emissions and health effects in the general population: a systematic review - PubMed <https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30471502/#:~:text=Almost%20all%20the%20studies%20found,also%20report ed%20in%20some%20studies> nlm.nih.gov <https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30471502/#:~:text=Almost%20all%20the%20studies%20found,also%20reported%20in%20some%20studies> Thank you for your time and attention, Sinda Merritt 196 Old Gardiner Road Gardiner (831) 334-0357 Sent from my iPhone
