HomeMy WebLinkAbout050124 email - Re_ Parcel 702223013 street number - DCD's non-actionALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them.
Good morning, Josh - so it has been well over 8 months since I applied and paid for the permit to have a street number on my new parcel adjacent to my home (property ID 18318). You informed
me that my application triggered a red flag because I was the fifth person to apply for a number on the same road. I assumed that, given such a fact, the county would have reimbursed
me for the fee paid since the service could not be provided. I did not think it'd be considered a donation.
If DCD is not going to fulfill my request, then I respectfully request a refund in the amount of $340.30 (paid on July 9, 2023).
However, it is my hope that my request can be fulfilled without further delay - without me having to pay an additional $900+ (or whatever the current fee happens to be) to get a street
name change. This would cause great confusion because the other 2 parcel owners designated as 226 (Unangst) and 228 Cougar Run Road (Krasnow) use the same side road as where my parcel
is located. So if I applied and paid for a road name change, would that mean that their address would also change? Would we have 2 road names or would they have to pay the county an
additional fee as well and be obligated to change their addresses to vendors, etc.? Very confusing.
Perhaps I will simply add a sign (in black and white) with the number 230 next to the others... so that the Fire Department/Emergency Services can find it in the event of a major fire
- which given the forecast for this summer and fall, the likelihood of such an event in our very forested area is an unfortunate possibility. However, such a solution is not ideal at
all.
I'm already inconvenienced enough in having to bundle my electricity bill with my home property (but I'm grateful to the PUD for having made such
a temporary allowance). However, this setup will not work well if I ever decide to sell the parcel in question.
Unless you plan on designating a street number like the other two (226 and 228) with the same road name, I respectfully request a refund.
Thank you,
Connie Gallant

Good afternoon - this is the third email message I have sent to DCD, in addition to leaving several messages to be called back, with no results whatsoever.
This morning I called DCD and, this time, a receptionist (Andrea) answered and transferred me to the voicemail of someone named Greg. As I now understand it, my application for a new
street number (for parcel 702223013) which I submitted and paid $340.30 on July 9, 2023 - has triggered a street name change since I was the 5th applicant. It would have been great
to have been informed of this development right away, not to learn about it almost 2 months after I applied/paid for the number.
Instead, I have been waiting and waiting for the red number to show up on my mailbox, as promised, so that I could display it and PUD could initiate the connection from the new transformer
I paid for (a whopping $19,000+) so that an RV pad I had built could be connected. My plans are to use an RV as a guest house for my East Coast family who will be coming to visit in
September for a couple of weeks.
With this new development of needing a street name, I can only assume that it will be a cold day in hell before any action is taken. And my family will have to suffer the consequences.
My apologies for making such a statement but it is incredibly infuriating not to receive any, and I mean any, communication from DCD as to what the next steps should be. For instance:
1. Who applies and pays for the new street name?
2. Does the application have to be under the name of all the new residents?
3. How long does this process take?
I have always taken all the complaints from local residents made about DCD with a grain of salt. Well, now I understand why they complain so much. The inefficiency, lack of courtesy,
and lack of communication I have been shown is shocking. I would have never believed it. I also understand why many folks in the county simply go ahead with projects without letting
the county know. Why must I go to these extents, of having to copy our Board of County Commissioners so they are aware of the department's inefficiencies? I know for a fact that the
top staff members of DCD are professionals. So what is the problem? Is it due to the lower level staff lack of procedures and knowledge? Understaffed?
Whatever the issues, a local citizen who files the proper documents and pays for specific services should not be penalized with an endless waiting period and no responses.
I am frustrated and extremely disappointed. I hope I hear from someone soon. I should not have to make this issue totally public, but if anyone in your corresponding departments knows
me, you will not be surprised if I resort to such actions.
Respectfully,
