Dear Commissioners,
On behalf of the Jefferson County Home Builders Association, I am writing to express my growing concern about significant delays in permit issuance by the Department of Community Development.
I respectfully request that you review this letter and support the actions suggested within, which we believe will speed up the permit process. Removing the SDR permit, which quite
frankly has placed excessive strain on the DCD staff, will go a long way towards speeding up the Building Permit Process. Please understand that EVERYTHING required in the SDR is re-requested
and reviewed in depth during the actual Building Permit application. The SDR is totally redundant and unlike the LLOR it is not required under JC Code.
As of this week the DCD staff are quoting:
* 12 weeks for a new LLOR & SDR (combined) followed by
* 6 months on a complete Building permit.
We also request that you have the DCD immediately reopen Customer Assistance Meetings, which they simply decided to stop scheduling 4 weeks ago.
Additional, I request that you have the DCD return to “ in office “ work & open their doors on Fridays.
If they need a day to be closed please immediately move that day to Tuesday or Wednesday.
