Dear Sir or Madame, I am writing to strongly oppose the approval of a "concrete batch plant" on Gardiner Beach Road. My family and I live in the Eaglemount area, on West Egg and I Rd (Jefferson County) and we are within a twenty-mile radius of the proposed facility. I am expressing my absolute objection to this proposal, along with the many area residents, who understand the environmental degradation this type of project will create. Particulate matter will permeate our air and create pollution in every direction. Once the plant is established, it will continue to pollute our delicate environment for many years to come. It is outrageous and irresponsible that as we have been informed of this "news” so little time to respond in an educated, more detailed, manner. I am also requesting a public hearing be held to review this matter. We have legitimate environmental concerns regarding water and air quality, and very possibly "noise pollution," if you approve this project. Contaminated groundwater will surely find its way to the Gardiner Beach neighborhood's common well, sooner or later. Certainly, the related highway and local road traffic will add noticeably to our already congested community traffic, as well. The proposed facility is only a short distance from Eagle Creek, and Discovery Bay, a relatively pristine but already threatened bay, e.g., shellfish restrictions. The Gardiner Beach aquifer/water table will be at the highest risk for "forever chemicals" from the proposed cement operation. The dust and particulate matter will spread for miles. And this is only the surface of the potential problems. Where is the environmental review of this matter? Finally, the amount of capital apparently invested by the project applicants appears to foretell a greater than 3-year endeavor. This proposal deserves more time, attention and in put from the residents who will be severely effected by the proposed concrete batch plant. Sincerely, Elizabeth Morgan Tyler
