I appreciate your comments on the SMP update during the Monday BOCC meeting.
Your remarks about reviewing where you are presently at compared to the document that came out of the Planning Commission (PC) deliberations are worth considering.
The Planning Commission draft you received, was much more restrictive than the Update your own DCD originally envisaged and made public in 2020. What you are suggesting now is significantly
more overbearing than the final PC document.
Yes, it is easy to wander along a path remembering only the last bend, not where you started from and the twists and turns that have led you to the present point.
As I tediously reiterate, think it through yourselves, and use your experience and knowledge to answer the question “how much environmental damage has shellfish farming caused in Jefferson
County in the last 125 years” especially when you compare it to shoreline property development.
