Every gift fuels progress in treating some of the most treatment-resistant cancers and diseases. And right now, until June 30, a $100,000 matching gift from an anonymous Fred Hutch donor can double the power of your support <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=34_nr-bMOADpezKlg-ZUivvon18tCcJQ0 DgDaEqmjKjtqeVMmrbLnw> . <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=DES69ajhJsVfzMpRM6GK8lm5mEKr4hziVYEJCbn1PLudjAYcE5czCA> Here’s just one example of the groundbreaking research your gift today <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=dif5FjoII1ByVLVmu-9uC91UOpP-NGCdp5zoaFUf_U0U9XnqR0s5ng> could help support: Paul Nghiem, MD, PhD, and his team at Fred Hutch and UW Medicine are expanding our understanding of how to make immunotherapy more effective for more patients with Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), the most aggressive form of skin cancer, and potentially, with other solid tumor cancers too. The key may be a special type of immune cell called a macrophage. Dr. Nghiem’s early research showed that when patients’ tumors contained higher numbers of cancer-fighting T cells, outcomes were usually better. But not always. Looking more closely, they discovered that in tumors where macrophages were dominant, T-cell responses were suppressed. Their analysis revealed that patients with the best responses to immunotherapy tended to have many T cells but few macrophages in their tumors. The next step for Dr. Nghiem and his team is to investigate whether targeting macrophages can help patients who don’t respond to current immunotherapies. Please don’t wait to enable more innovative research like this — especially now, while your gift could be matched <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=BJ8IpTayK0nt6gkoksoCNjiots1Ea-NVb83dlMTTvDWKD1 S5eGs6Fw> . <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=UXIXpnnkmcmA9g7FzlL85CW2FBSsbN4OIbRmVUZsdPBXxf5--iSOGg> Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent organization that also serves as UW Medicine’s cancer program. <https://secure2.convio.net/fhcrc/images/content/pagebuilder/RKD_2404_April_Research_Fund_Drive_Email_1_Control_UM_lo.png> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=-owL54GhRxrHUb2log0EsBJjaVHOG7DMuPAb9mAv8-S0pScosa3uDw> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=Uj-wGJuDKjdTdFEEaH9n8RoMDLGBJN1ckPx0U2VvMH6hvkOQJSaMsw> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=t33ffV6Mqc0RWyjSJKBhHigPWChLohBG4kGj6Yko-Y_JRu3yBrC5MA> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=Eq-en5opfaMaNp35wmVExxjNulgwYrKW6m9CdKtpKPCQw4itBdhZKQ> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=1hWv7VrtU-SpgIOSEGbwUNO5QFs5FLvO4mqHdhuQ1ovIXQl1Ym7F1g> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=cf4C0E5tmBQaLv02foa_Czh-rjJ-1YusWIhWwfOLwz8_oHZJZ-iPJA> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=-Je8iTeQhhGe1nj-6onxSDsJ8dk_w_fMRGOae0ERRrRwbS0qvJUvrQ> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=8_3rM-3b9Fy49ZZvwMQG3wgA2mwL_Z5YlhetqTIEMf9vjW8MeMx_3g> <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=yTtBe0ooPRc6YUBgdUE_8qcnwCGwAf2xyBeY4ARDhb7pr1R8jLhcwQ> 1100 Fairview Ave. N, Mail Stop J5-200, Seattle, WA 98109 annualgiving@fredhutch.org <mailto:annualgiving@fredhutch.org> 206.667.4399 <https://secure.fredhutch.org/site/R?i=5Lz4FanJYKuxWrHT2Rd3UusIWaZWa4iOt1Abk2KcFI0rzICevHHP0Q> Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
