Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Senators Van De Wege and Muzzall, Representatives Chapman, Tharinger, Paul and Shavers, Island County Commissioners Bacon, Johnson and St. Clair, Jefferson County Commissioners Dean, Eisenhour, and Brotherton, Mayor Hughes and Coupeville Councilmembers, Good morning. The Kennewick, currently assigned to the Port Townsend/Coupeville route, is temporarily out of service due a loss of propulsion on one end of the vessel. Currently at Coupeville, the vessel’s crew have made repairs and we’ve been cleared by the Coast Guard to conduct sea trials. This has cancelled the vessel’s 10.15am sailing from Coupeville and 11am return from Port Townsend. If sea trials are successful and the Coast Guard clears the vessel to return to service, we’ll do so. However, with only three vessels able to operate on the route, one serving Vashon Island at Pt. Defiance Tahlequah, the second out for maintenance, if the Kennewick isn’t able to return to service, we’ll suspend service on the route while working on additional repairs and looking at options for reopening the route. I’ll update you as soon as sea trials are completed. Please let me know if you have questions. Best, John John B. Vezina Director Planning, Customer and Government Relations Washington State Ferries
