Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Dear George and county planning team, I strongly object to the Pleasant Harbor Master Planned Resort. It is out of scale and alignment with the county’s and the Hood Canal residents’ values and desires, is environmentally unsound, and creates traffic safety and viability issues for two- lane Highway 101- the only way a car, bus or truck can travel to and from East Jefferson and Mason Counties in the event of fire - or at anytime when the Hood Canal Bridge is closed for work or weather. Our PUD has expressed concern about providing power for our region now, let alone in the future. Will the PUD have enough to support an ice rink, swimming pool, 1000 residents and guests? Are any of the planned residences affordable or workforce housing? How is a go-cart track in line with our commission’s commitments to the Climate Action Committee? How can this resort provide water for its golf course, swimming pool, hockey rink, residents, restaurants and guests, and its sewer? Who will police their storm water treatment system? We need workforce housing, jobs that support the well being of our eco-system and developments that utilize minimal resources including power and water, and are as energy efficient/self sufficient as possible. How our county government’s responsibilities and concerns regarding drought, forest fires, and mitigating climate change reflected in permitting a planned resort of this type and scale? I’m heartbroken that such a scheme has gotten this far. It reminds me of the 5-star hotel and conference center that were once planned for Point Hudson- and thankfully were thwarted by concerned citizens and responsive, responsible city government. May the county find the courage and wisdom save Pleasant Harbor and to say no to the planned resort. I believe the unplanned consequences will be dire if not. Sincerely, Carol Hasse 360-643-3173
