Act Now to Reduce Your Jail Costs with Medicaid Waiver
If your county wants to receive Medicaid reimbursement by July 1, 2025 for jails and juvenile detention facilities pursuant to the 1115 Waiver (90 days), then your county must provide
HCA with the Intent to Participate form by June 1, 2024. This could potentially have a large impact on county budgets, so be sure to learn more if you have any questions.

We invite you to submit a session presentation proposal to be offered in-person at this year's County Leaders Conference, November 19-21, 2024. These sessions will provide opportunities
for skill development, the exchange of knowledge, and a collaborative learning atmosphere related to county government. We encourage you to be creative, innovative, and interactive
with your session ideas!
We do anticipate more proposals than session time slots available, so we may combine some proposals with others, and not every proposal can be included in the conference agenda. The
initial deadline for submitting proposals is June 14, 2024. WSAC will discuss the proposals received and notify you of your proposal status by mid-July.

Washington’s “Internet for All” Initial Proposal Greenlighted by Biden-Harris Administration
Washington state’s initial proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program is one of three approved today by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications
and Information Administration (NTIA). The BEAD program is a cornerstone of the Biden-Harris Administration's “Internet for All” initiative.
This approval will enable the state to request access to over $1.2 billion allocated to begin implementation of its BEAD program — a major step toward closing the digital divide and
meeting the goal of connecting everyone with affordable, reliable, high-speed Internet service.

Road Work Ahead? Pierce County’s New Interactive Map to Learn About Projects
Last week Pierce County launched a new online interactive road closure and construction map that shows in real time which roads are closed and where commuters can find detours.
Users can zoom in and scroll around a map of Pierce County. Red dots and lines indicate closed roads, and orange lines show detour routes. You can click on specific projects to find
information about when construction will start and end, track a project’s progress, learn how much the project will cost and also who to contact if you have more questions.
