The work requires closing the bridge to vehicle traffic, including emergency responders. The closure hours are from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following dates: Monday, June 3 through Saturday, June 8 Monday, June 10 This is an extremely important project – the bridge needs to remain operational not only for the 18,000 daily vehicles trips, but for marine traffic including Department of Defense vessels used for national security. These grants total over $850,000 which will allow for rebuilding of broken sidewalk, paving of Tyler Street, addition of wheelchair ramps, bulbouts for pedestrian safety, planting of trees, and replacement of a handful of trees that have caused the sidewalks to heave. The impetus for this project is to improve accessibility in Uptown. The Jefferson County Farmers Market, DASH, and Jefferson Transit are large supporters to help with mobility of those experiencing disabilities.
