Commissioners,
As you about to pat yourselves on the back for progress made by the Climate Action Committee, and approve a new set of CAC goals, I ask that you consider one big thing that you didn’t
do.
You, and your fellow Jefferson Transit Authority Board members, didn’t stop JTA’s purchase of an overpriced, fake trolley, diesel bus to serve the #11 route.
Please refer to the attached printout.
By approving the purchase of a diesel bus instead of an electric bus, you have allowed JTA to spend $232,683.38 per year more than would be necessary. A battery bus would have paid for
itself in less than 4 years.
And, that one diesel bus produces more than 65 tons of CO2 per year.
Not good for the climate, not good for the taxpayers.
