Cyclists will ride and view world class lavender farms while experiencing the natural beauty of the Olympic Peninsula. The survey is coming! The Peninsula Trails Coalition will once again be administering a survey this summer. Look for our trail ambassadors out on the trail with tables and tablets to gather your input. We want to know what you think! Susan began volunteering for the trail in 2018. Her favorite segment is behind Lake Crescent because it's gorgeous! Susan says, "I became a trail volunteer because I love to ride on the trail. I'm so thankful we have this beautiful trail in our area." She's really looking forward to the trail being completed between Diamond Point and Port Townsend. A fun fact about Susan is that she has traveled to every continent except Antarctica. It's on her bucket list! Elden has been volunteering along the trail for about 10 years. His favorite part of the trail is the Spruce railroad trail for the views, tunnels and gentle slopes. If you ask Elden why he became a volunteer his answer is simple: There was a sign along the trail requesting volunteers. Did you know that in 1975 Elden saw the U.S. by bicycle? Elden thinks the Olympic Discovery Trail is, "A great place to encounter interesting people." Lori has been a volunteer along the Olympic Discovery Trail for 9 years. Lori's favorite stretch of the trail is the Elwha River pedestrian bridge because it is so pretty. She's also quick to add, "The lower section down by the river is beautiful!" Lori got started volunteering because she loves to exercise outdoors and saw a sign on Bagley Creek. In 1978, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and experts recommended no exercise. Lori was and still remains very determined and ignored their advice. She even took up long distance running for many years! Look for Lori out on the trail walking nice distances.
