|THE COMMUNITY
Located in the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, Jefferson County, Washington offers many recreational activities
for any lifestyle near the Olympic Mountains, the Olympic National Park and the Olympic National Forest.
East Jefferson County borders the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Admiralty Inlet and Hood Canal. There are about
30,000 residents in the County, with most living in the vibrant City of Port Townsend and in community cen-
ters like Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Quilcene and Port Ludlow. Art and cultural activities and festivals run
throughout the year: there are jazz and blues festivals, The Wooden Boat Festival, writer’s conferences and
monthly art gallery walks. Many local organic farms provide fresh produce to Farmer’s Markets that run from
April—December. Our East County communities are only two hours from the Cities of Seattle and Olympia
and three hours from Victoria, BC via highway and ferry.

|THE OPPORTUNITY
The Central Services Director plans, organizes, and directs Department functions and divisions, including In-
formation Services (information technology, telecommunications, GIS, records management, and public rec-
ords administration) and Facilities (facilities maintenance, capital facility planning and projects, and debt ser-
vice). The Director is responsible for budgeting, capital planning, and financial planning and analysis. This po-
sition manages special projects and provides support as requested by the County Administrator.
The successful candidate will lead the Central Services Team by example. This role will enrich the pride and
professionalism of the department with commitment to excellence in customer service, collaboration, re-
spect, and cooperation. Additionally, candidates would have experience with a similar-sized (or larger) or-
ganization with a history of progressive and proactive program development; experience working with Elect-
ed Officials or a Board of Directors; a track record for delivering results; and, the ability to collaborate with
staff at all levels and create a positive working environment characterized by teamwork and innovation. Can-
didates must have a strong and confident presence, be a good listener, be accessible, and understand the
importance of maintaining close and consistent communication with staff.
|QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Financial Management,
Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field; and five (5) years of progressively responsi-
ble public sector management experience; A Master's degree in a related field is strongly preferred OR an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
