Home My WebLink About005 07 CC :Jt.0 I/Ref/J 7 \ felO , STATE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY OF JEFFERSON In the matter of x RESOLUTION NO. 05-07 Imposing Load Limits on County Roads x x WHEREAS, the county roads may be subjected to freezing temperatures for sufficient time to cause frost penetration; and, WHEREAS, the moderating temperatures may cause the ice to melt and reduce the load carrying capabilities of the roadway surfacing; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to impose load limits and other restrictions on County roads pursuant to RCW 36.75.270 and RCW 46.44.080; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, to protect the investment and to prevent damage to the roads, the restricted roads will be signed with permissible loads for various tire sizes. The load limits will be enforced at the time the signs are uncovered as determined by the County Engineer. This Load Limit Restriction shall be in force from January 16,2007 through March 30, 2007. The board of county commissioners of each county may by resolution limit or prohibit classes or types of vehicles on any county road or bridge and may limit the weight of vehicles which may travel thereon. Any such resolution shall be effective for ill definite period of time which shall be stated in the resolution. If such resolution is published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in tne county and if signs Indicating such olosure or limitation of traffic have been posted on such road or bridge, any person violating such resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. The department shall have the same authOrity as hereinabove granted to local authorities to prohibit or restrict the operation ofvehicles upon state highways, The department shall give publiC notice of closure or restriction. The department may issue special permits for the operation of school buses and motor trucks transporting perishable commodities or commodities necessary for the health and welfare of local residents under specified weight and speed restrictions as may be necessary to protect any state highway from undue damage.
