RESOLUTION NO. 10-07
WHEREAS, the Mental Health Services previously provided by the County were
privatized many years ago and are now handled by private agencies; and,
WHEREAS, the County also privatized the Drug and A1cohql Treatment services
in 2004 that were previously provided by the Health and Human Services Department;
and,
WHEREAS, by these actions the role ofthe Health and Human Services
Department has changed and the name should be changed to reflect the role the
Department now serves in the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Health in May of2005 passed a resolution to change
the name of the Health and Human Services Department to Jefferson County Public
Health; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners recognize this request from the
Board of Health and agree that changing the name of the Department will clearly identify
the department to the community and unite clinical services, Environmental Health
services and community prevention work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, by the Board of Jefferson County
Commissioners that the County Auditor be and is hereby authorized to change the name
of the Health and Human Services Department to Jefferson County Public Health on all
official documents and funds where the name of the Department appears, from this date
forward,
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the name of the Natural Resource Division
and/or Fund (# 128.000.01 0) shall also be changed in the County budget to the Water
Quality Division and/or Fhnd.

Re: Funding name change on County Budget
In May 2005 there was discussion during a Board of Health meeting
regarding the role of Health and Human Services in public health. It was
pointed out that within HHS the Drug and Alcohol Treatment services were
privatized in 2004. It was determined that Jefferson County Public Health
clearly identifies a department and unites clinical services, Environmental
Health services and community prevention work. As a result of that Board
of Health meeting a resolution was passed and Jefferson County Health and
Human Services changed its name to Jefferson County Public Health.
Due to reorganization of the Environmental Health Department, in December
2006, the Natural Resources Division changed its name from Jefferson
County Natural Resources Division to Jefferson County Water Quality
Division in January 2007.
As such, I request a funding name change to the County Budget for both
Public Health and the Water Quality Division.
