On June 17, in response to my comments that the BoCC has, once again, not addressed the ever-increasing need to permanently ban fireworks in Jefferson County, Commissioner Dean opined,
“we could … go into ‘the yellow’ [fire danger condition], which allows us to prohibit fireworks on short notice”.
To declare pretextually that a “yellow” fire danger condition exists solely for the purpose of justifying a fireworks ban would be an abuse of authority.
Please stop avoiding making the hard, but necessary, decision on this matter. Do it before we suffer the avoidable catastrophe that a massive fire would create.
