HomeMy WebLinkAboutJeffCo Aquatic Coalition Pool Comments_0622246/22/2024 Questions received by Jeffco Aquatic Coalition with the Healthier Together Task Force proceedings Taskforce mandate, timeframe and governance arrangements: - Is the taskforce looking at the timeframe for a new pool as part of their considerations? (seems pertinent given the current pool closure) - What is the relationship and standing between the Steering Committee and the taskforce and their respective recommendations? - What is the process and timeframe for county/city decision-making on a new pool? - How are the views of youth and families represented on the taskforce? - How are the stakeholder views from the multi-year stakeholder consultations being factored into the ‘work’ products? Regarding sprung proposal: - Can it provide the amenities families are asking for (two pools, welcoming community gathering space, other amenities captured in the Opsis proposal)? - How much is the Boise field trip and how is it being funded? Why was this specific facility selected for a site visit (e.g. does it have similar amenities to what are being considered for the JeffCo pool?) - What lifespan is being used to assess the feasibility/economics of the sprung proposal versus ‘traditional build’? - What are the comparative long-term/life-time costs of a tent versus traditional build? - Would Sprung be providing only the “shelter” portion of the facility, or are they also involved in the design/layout of the pool and features? Chimacum park site: - How is the taskforce considering the carbon impact of the various site-proposals (separate from VMTs), given the county’s new sequestration targets? Has the impact of clearing timber (not just timber value) been considered? Are the costs of carbon offsets being factored in? - What is the estimated costs between septic system versus connection to the new sewer system? (the latter being part of the rationale for the county location) - If selected, would the Chimacum park site be operated by the YMCA? If so, how might this impact YMCA’s current programming (e.g. transportation for after school care, camps, etc.)? -Specifically, what kid friendly pool amenities are the task force proposing be included in the new build? -Will the kid friendly amenities you are proposing be enough to compete with the Port Angeles pool and prevent families from leaving the county despite a new build? -Is the task force considering a hot tub for adults? -What temperature will the water be in the kid friendly pool? -Will the proposed pool design provide more space than the current (very crowded) Mountain View pool?
