To the DNR,
I am a year-round resident, voter, and landowner in the impacted area.
I strongly support DNR's proposed expansion of the Dabob Bay Natural Area. These are well-selected parcels that contain globally rare forest & plant types, critical streams, local water
supplies, and protect Dabob Bay (one of the last original functioning estuaries in the Puget Sound) from contamination.
I also strongly support inclusion of the "West Dabob Parcel" (included in the original request from Jefferson County) which will provide forest connectivity with the existing natural
area and protect murrelet habitat.
There is broad support in our area for this expansion: not just from environmentalists, but local landowners, Tribes, shellfish growers, and our county commissioners.
We have confidence in this DNR program, as the previous Natural Area expansion worked well for our region.
Thank you for your attention to our region.
This is an exciting step forward!
Brian Lopez (Dabob Bay resident & landowner)
