Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Good evening local elected officials and community partners, With thanks and all credit to WSF’s Vessels and Operations teams, who worked all weekend respectively on the repairs and crewing necessary to move boats, the 144-vehicle Suquamish is on its way to the Mukilteo/Clinton route to replace the 144-vehicle Tokitae. As I emailed on Wednesday, if the Suquamish hadn’t been available to replace the Tokitae, it would have meant a further downsizing of capacity on the Mukilteo/Clinton route during the busy Fourth of July travel week and potentially other service disruptions. This weekend’s work included crewing a midnight tow from a shipyard to Eagle Harbor this morning, a second deck crew to conduct sea trials at 7:00 a.m., and 2X/day management meetings all weekend tracking progress on the Suquamish and making contingency plans if it couldn’t be returned to service. We understand the public’s frustration with our current operations, but my colleagues work hard every day to provide as much service as possible with resources available. This weekend was a stellar example of that commitment.
