Conozca la Verdad sobre los Mitos de la Inmigración * Courtney se reunió con Trabajadores Agrícolas en Sequim * JCIRA necesita un Celular "Smartphone" First Award of the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship <https://mcusercontent.com/e6a5ce9c533fce19d6336ca83/images/9a18a2e3-1733-5af0-8eff-a20cfec20b52.jpg> On June 17, the JCIRA Youth Team announced that Idaly Medina Sanchez is the first recipient of the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship. Idaly, who recently graduated from Port Townsend High School, plans to continue her education at Tacoma Community College this fall. Everyone at JCIRA wishes Idaly all the best as she pursues her dreams. JCIRA established the Larry Jensen Memorial Scholarship in honor of our previous board chair, who passed away earlier this year. For those who knew Larry, who was dedicated to assisting immigrants and supporting opportunities for all, this award has special significance in helping his achievements live on. Congratulations to Idaly and to her parents, Raúl Medina Contreras and Anastacia Sánchez Barragán. It’s time to celebrate! Next Immigration Legal Clinic: July 17! <https://mcusercontent.com/e6a5ce9c533fce19d6336ca83/images/9d50f170-952a-bc1b-7258-903f3be274d3.png> A Successful Event with Jefferson Healthcare In May, JCIRA met with representatives from Jefferson Healthcare. It was an informational event about the upcoming launch of the expansion of Medicaid to the undocumented community. We had about 40 people in attendance and 15 people registered with JHC for appointments to sign up for the program! Learn the Truth about Immigration Myths Increasingly, more myths are circulating about immigration and immigrants than facts. You’ve probably heard statements like “Immigrants are criminals or terrorists;” or “the U.S. is being overrun with immigrants,” or “the U.S. has an open border”— all statements that are proven false.
