Building Better Communities Through Service
We recently entered a special season at Gordian. Every July, all employees under the Fortive umbrella are encouraged to participate in a Day of Caring event to create and advocate for
positive impacts in the communities in which we work, live and serve. In 2023, we collectively supported nearly 200 non-profits in 127 communities around the world for a total of 20,000
service hours. It's a truly impressive initiative to be a part of.
My personal involvement began when I joined Gordian's Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and began working with a wide cross-section of Gordianites to help guide service opportunities
for the entire company. My parents prioritized volunteerism when I was growing up and I've kept that torch burning into adulthood. It is a joy to encourage and assist those in need,
and while I'd like to think I've been a blessing to others, I know for a fact that the heartwarming experiences I've had are a priceless gift.
My primary Day of Caring participation as an Election Day official has been especially rewarding. I've served in several primary and general elections. It's always a long day. We prepare
the polls before sunup and submit our counts after sundown. Yet the effort is worth it. In an era of growing political strife, it's a pleasure and an honor to work alongside people
who are committed to ensuring a hospitable voting experience for all, no matter their political affiliations and personal beliefs.
It's commendable that Fortive and Gordian are committed to fostering our opportunity to serve by giving us sixteen paid volunteer hours to use at a Day of Caring event, on Election Day
or whenever the opportunity to get involved arises. It's a unique chance to build extraordinary teams right where we live.
