Continuing support needed
for a family reunited…
JCIRA staff and volunteers have been working to reunite a local mother with her two young children since the fall of 2023. They fled domestic and cartel violence in Mexico, but the two
young children were trapped on the border, unable to cross and be with their mother.
Through countless hours of advocacy, and with the support of some amazing lawyers and advocates across the country, we were able to see this family happily reunited in May of this year.
Immigration stories like this one often do not have a happy ending. With extremely limited pathways to gain legal status, and increasingly strict policies on the border, many families
have no way to reunite.
In order to keep this family together permanently, the children need to get US visas as soon as possible. With ongoing support from JCIRA, they are working with an amazing lawyer from
the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project <https://jcira.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e6a5ce9c533fce19d6336ca83&id=d30195b0b4&e=e9fe4694e3> . The filing fees for each child is a
steep $1,440. We are trying to raise $2,880 to keep this family together and safe. If you want to donate, please note in your donation “welcome children.”

para una familia reunida...
El personal y los voluntarios de JCIRA llevan trabajando para reunir a una madre local con sus dos hijos pequeños desde el pasado otoño. Huyeron de la violencia doméstica y de los cárteles
en México, pero los dos niños pequeños quedaron atrapados en la frontera, sin poder cruzar y estar con su madre.
A través de innumerables horas de defensa, y con el apoyo de algunos abogados y defensores increíbles en Washington y en la frontera entre EE.UU. y México, pudimos ver a esta familia
felizmente reunida en mayo de este año. Las historias de inmigración como ésta no siempre tienen un final feliz. Con vías extremadamente limitadas para obtener un estatus legal, y políticas
cada vez más estrictas en la frontera, muchas familias no tienen forma de reunirse.
Para mantener a esta familia unida de forma permanente, los niños necesitan obtener visados estadounidenses lo antes posible. Con el apoyo continuo de JCIRA, están trabajando con un
