HIGH LEVEL SUmmary
WHAT: A Jefferson County public aquatic center (two-tank pool plus exercise and meeting rooms) for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
WHY: Teach all county children to swim, provide healthy year-round recreation for all ages, ensure therapy and rehabilitation for those in need, and offer competitive opportunities.
WHERE: Centrally located in East Jefferson County in the Tri-Area (Chimacum, Port Hadlock, Irondale).
HOW: Paid for by county sales tax, LTAC funds, private donors, and foundations.
WHO:
1) JeffCo Aquatic Coalition (JAC) to survey citizens about usage priorities recognizing cost constraints.
2) Jefferson County to create a Public Facilities District (PFD) to further research site selection, financing, and construction and serve as project sponsor.
We suggest centrally located meetings to get full county support.
WHEN: Following a successful vote of the people in 2025, construction could begin in 2027.
