Hello Commissioners Dean, Eisenhour, and Brotherton,
I hope this finds you well! I wanted to connect you all with John Loving, the DC Lobbyist for the Quinault Indian Nation (QIN). I have cc’d John to this email.
The QIN and our team are working on a bill to restore a 70 acre parcel of their reservation that was lost during the allotment era. The parcel was given to a private owner and eventually
made its way to the Forest Service. I have included our briefing paper on the Quinault Indian Nation Allotment 1157 Land Transfer Act, as well as a map of the allotment, which lies
within Jefferson County.
John and the QIN are hoping to meet with you all to discuss the transfer, as we are hoping to get this bill out for consideration before the end of August.
I’ll let you all take it from here!
Please let me or my colleague, Mai Nguyen, who covers public lands and tribal issues in our DC office and cc’d, if you have any questions!
Best,
Haley
