Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Greetings Commissioners: I hope you're having a great summer. My husband and I own a home on property that adjoins the proposed Brinnon MPR. We have had concerns about its size and whether its use of water would affect our shared aquifer. However, we recognize that it has been approved, and the presentations by John Holbert in community meetings have gone a long way towards addressing our concerns. There's an empty lot owned by Statesman that is mostly used by big trucks when they need a rest, by shrimpers during shrimp season, and most importantly by Jefferson Transit. It's full of deep potholes. I understand that Jefferson Transit is concerned about damage to its bus, and I believe one has already been damaged. They want the lot smoothed. I understand from John that Statesman has equipment that could do this, but the County has not agreed to let it because it might create the appearance it has started work. Please direct the county employees to allow Statesman to go ahead and smooth the lot. This relates to the larger issue of whether Statesman can do anything prior to receiving all permits. As you're aware, the project cannot proceed until all necessary permits are obtained following careful review. However, there may be aspects of the project that are needed to mitigate the effects of having this MPR, and that the owner would be allowed to do even in the absence of the planned MPR. For example, the owner would be able to plant native vegetation and remove asphalt of old roads whether the land is used as an MPR or something else. Why not give Statesman the go-ahead to start some of this mitigation now? The longer Statesman has to work on this type of mitigation, the sooner the plants will be able to start maturing, enhancing the beauty of the site. It would be great if Statesman could start using the equipment that it has on the site now, which is sitting idle, to remove asphalt and prepare areas for native plants. Warm regards, Rebekah Ross Brinnon, WA
