Jon Cooke called the meeting to order at 3:02 pm.

Agenda adopted (2:55)
Moved by Marianne, seconded by Vern, and carried all in favor: to adopt the agenda with the change of
removing John Fleming’s ODT presentation.
Minutes approved (3:56)
Moved by Bob, seconded by Susie, and carried all in favor: to accept meeting minutes from April 4, 2024
with the change of adding Karin to the Trails Subcommittee.
OPEN FORUM FOR BOARD MEMBERS (5:29)
Bob reviewed The Great American Rail Trail meeting. JCPRAB members Bob, Vern, and Karin attended.
Discussion was had regarding the Olympic Discovery Trail, the Great American Rail Trail, and the
materials used to create the trail. Karin commented on the benefits of hard packed vs paved trails. It
was requested to add time in August’s meeting to discuss and provide a recommendation for hard
packed vs paved trails on the ODT sections in Jefferson County.
Bob also updated the Board on the National Trails day volunteer maintenance event. A lot was
accomplished, though turnout was less than last year.

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (14:33)
Chimacum Park – The Board requested Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour attend a Chimacum Park
Subcommittee meeting to discuss the acquisition of the surrounding properties.
(16:50) Volunteering/Outreach Update– Vern proposed a meeting date be decided.
OLD BUSINESS (17:26)
Park tour briefing – Presentation and discussion
Chelsie presented the Park Tour survey findings. Discussion and ideas were shared. The Board will look
into presenting a Park Tour presentation to the Board of County Commissioners.
