See attached “Gateway Visitor Center LTAC Exhib. C 1Q2024 Report” for full details:
The ongoing oversite and transitional management of the Gateway Visitor Center to Jefferson County Tourism
Coordinating Council from Jefferson County Historical Society, with staff hired to address duties of Site Ambassador and
Manager on Duty of VIC. TCC’s Project Manager for the VIC began administering this transfer of responsibility and
operations July 1, 2023.
Jefferson County Chamber and City of Port Townsend stopping VIC services have caused further impacts across the whole
Olympic Peninsula tourism network. The impacts have been felt by the Gateway VIC.
WSDOT’s planned 20-30 day closure of SR19 at the Gateway, to build a roundabout on SR 104 has impacted the staff of
the Gateway VIC. Positive alternative route communications – inclusive of work with Jefferson Transit and all vendors –
has been very impactful.
Progress has been made with new leadership at JeffCo. Central Services. Tracy Coleman’s help with long overdue painting
and maintenance work has been most welcome.
