Olympic National Forest seeks public proposals for Forest improvement projects
OLYMPIA, Wash., July 26, 2024 — The Olympic National Forest is seeking proposals for Forest improvement projects for funding through Title II of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) Act today
through Sept. 23, 2024.
Title II of the SRS provides funding allocated by county for the protection, restoration and enhancement of fish and wildlife habitat, and other natural resource objectives on Federal
land and on non-federal land where a project directly impacts resources on Federal land.
Below are the current Title II funds allocations by county.
Clallam $87,279.30
Grays Harbor $43,216.20
Jefferson $109,594.80
Mason $23,995.80
Total for Olympic National Forest $264,086.10
Past projects have varied widely including noxious weed control, road maintenance, trail maintenance, youth conservation crews, enhancing wildlife habitat, rehabilitation of wetlands,
restroom replacements and portable toilet rentals, litter and abandoned vehicle removal, and culvert replacement.
Volunteer and non-profit organizations, interest groups, local governments, and others may submit a proposal for a project.

The Olympic Peninsula Resource Advisory Committee will meet in the fall to hear project proposals and make recommendations to the Forest on which projects to fund.
RAC members represent a wide variety of backgrounds and interests with representation from local tribal and government agencies, industry, environmental groups, recreation groups, and
residents.
