MEMO TO: President Capoeman
FROM: Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
SUBJECT: Letter of Support for Federal Legislation to Restore 72 Acres to Quinault Indian Nation,
referred to as Allotment 1157
Dear President Capoeman,
This letter is in reference to the Quinault Indian Nation's efforts working with the federal government
to transfer ownership of Allotment#1157 from the federal government to the Quinault Indian Nation.
Jefferson County understands that the Quinault Indian Nation intends to have this land transferred
from the U.S. Forest Service into trust status for the Quinault Nation via federal legislation. Based on
the information you have provided, the conversion of Allotment#1157 from U.S. Forest Service land
to trust land is part of the Nation's efforts to restore its reservation lands and the parcel is already
within your reservation boundaries. We express no opposition to the Quinault Nation's efforts to put
this land into trust and support your efforts to restore your reservation.
Sincerely,
, .. . .. . ...,
