Dear Sir:- Your letter of December 20th. was received during my absence. Replying to the same, I will say that no bids were received and it was decided by the Highway Hoard to wait for about thirty days and then re-advertise work. The season should not cut any figure wj_th bidders, as they will have all the time they may require, that is to say, until July 1st, to complete the work. i note what you say regarding the abandonment of this- road and the improvement of som® other piece of road. It is immaterial to the Highway Board what piece of road Jefferson County may select for improvement. Should a change be made, the only condition that vre would have to insist upon would be that the cost of surveying and making maps, plans, specifications and estimate of cost on State Aid road No. 6 at Brannon, should be paid by Jefferson County. You can readily see that this is just, for if changes were allowed without pursuing this course, the county might fritter away a large portion of its State Aid money.
