The meeting was called to order at the appointed time by Chairman
B. G. Brown. The following Board and staff members were present: Commis-
sioner Larry W. Dennison and Commissioner George C. Brown; Kathy Stafford,
Administrator; and Yuko Umeda, Public Health Nurse.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the March 20, 1990
approved as presented by motion of Commissioner Dennison,
Commissioner George Brown.

ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
Acting Director of Nursina position: There was a discussion concerning
this position that will be open at the end of June.

ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT - continued
Request for Leave of Absence: Yuko Umeda, Public Health Nurse, was present
to submit a written request for maternity leave for May 21, 1990 to September
28, 1990. Kathy Stafford reported that tentative arrangements had been made
for a replacement. Chairman B. G. Brown explained the County Policy is that
all vacation and sick leave would be used first and any time beyond that
would be leave without pay. commissioner Dennison moved to approve the
request for leave, Commissioner George Brown seconded the motion which passed
unanimously.
Benefits for Part-time Emplovees: Kathy Stafford asked for a clarification
from the Board on the County Policy on paying benefits. Chairman Brown
explained the classifications of employees that can receive benefits and
those that cannot.
DIRECTOR OF NURSING REPORT
statistics. March 1990: The report on Community Health Nursing service
statistics was submitted to the Board.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIRECTOR REPORT
SummRry. March 1990: The Summary of Environmental Health activities was
submitted to the Board.
Environmental Health Director Interview: An interview is scheduled for 3: 30
p. m. this afternoon. Kathy reported that some candidates mentioned that
they would not take the position if offered, because of the high cost of
housing in the Port Townsend area.
The next regular meeting will be held Tuesday, May 15, 1990.
