Rivet steel shall have an ultimate strength of 52,000 to 60,000 pounds per square inch, an elastic limit of not less than 33,000 pounds per square inch, an elongation in 8 inches of not less than 25 per cent, and a reduction of area at point of fracture of not less than 50 per cent, and shall be capable of bending double, flat, without sign of fracture on convex side of bend.. Finished bars must be free from injurious flaws or cracks and must have a workmanlike finish. INSPECTION Insgeetion Ample facilities for inspection of material and workmanship will be furnished a duly qualified inspector. Tests on small specimens, to determine the quality of the iron, will be made free of charge, but must be done at the mill before any work is done upon the iron at the shops.
