The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Dalgleish with all Board
members present, for the purpose of hearings.
BE 84-32-R, CLYDE T. ROBINSON, 937800118. Mr. Robinson did not appear before the
Board, so Chairman Dalgleish read his petition. His land is valued at $32,500.
He feels $23,500 to be a fair value because of the bluff stability in his area.
Mr. McCready submitted a list of sales activity in the Cape George area and agreed
the the severe errosion on the adjoining properties could impact the value of his.
The Board will take this under advisement, and make a site inspection.
BE 84-33-R, THEODORE C. CASON, 938100440. Mr. and Mrs. Cason appeared before the
. Board and were duly sworn in. Their land and improvements are assessed for $104,400.
They feel this is too large of an increase, their 1980 taxes were $94,000., and
they purchased the property for $76,000 cash in 1979. Mr. McCready said it was
possible that the house was assessed at a too high grade of construction, and as
he had never been in the house, a site inspection will be helpful. The Board will
take this under consideration and make a site inspection.
BE 84-34-LO, CLAUDE CUNNINGHAM, 983100418. Mr. Cunningham did not appear before
the Board, so Chairman Dalgleish read his petition. His land is valued at $21,000.
He feels $15,000. to be a fair price and stated that he had had the property listed
for the last three years for $18,000. Mr. McCready contacted B.J. Realty and they
said the property is listed for $20,000. cash or $22,500. terms. He also presented
four comparables for the area. The Board will take this under advisement and make
a site inspection.
BE 84-35,LO, WALTER C. LICHTER, 938400712. Mr. Lichter did not appea~ before the
Board, so Chairman Dalgleish read his petition. His property is valued at $16,500.
He feel~ $15,000. to be fair because the Health Department has restricted him to
building a two bedroom home. Mr. McCready presented four comparables to support
the assessment. The Board will take this under advisement and make a site inspection.
BE 84-36-R, ELI S. STAHLHUT, 965000237. Mr. Stahlhut did not appear before the
Board so Chairman Dalgleish read his petition. There was a discrepancy in the
actual amount of square footage in the house he owns 1/2 interest in. Although
this was corrected in the Assessors Office, he wanted the Board to go back and
make reductions for the preceeding years. The Board tentatively agreed to write
Mr. Stahlhut a letter advising that the Board is not empowered to make reductions
in the previous years assessments. This will be done at a later date.
BE 84-37-LO, E. JOYCE & RALPH D. WHITCHELL, 965000074. Mr. and Mrs. Whitchell did
not appear before the Board, so Chairman Dalgleish read their petition. Their
property is assessed for $22,500. They feel a fair value to be $21,500. Their
property is listed at $24,500. Mr. McCready gave three comparables supporting the
assessed valuation. The Board will take this under advisement and make a site
inspection.
Having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
