If you can find p®ople in your district who are willing to
hold their time until the first of the year (or earlier if sufficient tares ;
are collected.) , you are autharizsd to co-operate eith Y~`~~orthup ict
pu'~ting in a trail from your place to Clearwater P. 0.
The Cammisaioners and I'~ere impressed with the necessity of
having the trail in so as to .serve the mil carrier during flood tia-es,
as well as for general public use, and if the arrangement ~-bove suggested
can be curried out, 'would like to have they work done as soon as possible.
I would suggest that you and. Cdr . ~iorthup first agree upon the
entire routm, h.nd then that each District build to the district Iin®.
The first eatima.te of X1500.00 seems rather high (far the
entire three miles}, but, if it is necessary to spend that amount, the
ac counts rill be approved. -

During our rsQent visit to your District, the Cornmissioner$
and I were impressed with the advisability of putting tz~ the mail
trail between ~rickson's and Clear ter, and I am truing to Mr.
Erickson, stating that if het can Obt~iri mean who are willing to
do the work and hold their time until funds are available, the
building of the trail will b® authorized.
Four District, of course., is not hampered for funds, and
you are authorized to ao~opearats with Mr. Erickson, if hea can make
the neag~ssary arraageaents.
I Rill quote from my letter to Cdr. Erickson the only
sugge;stio~s of~eared or instructions given, as follow:
"I would suggest that you and 9dr. Northup first
