SUMMARY
Provides Public Health Nursing clinical services and health education and disease
prevention in community settings. Follows the guidelines, protocols, and procedures of
the agency while performing the following duties.
• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
Provides nursing services to patient following physician or nurse practitioner's orders.
Refers patients to other community agencies for assistance and facilities linkages.
Organizes and conducts clinics as assigned. Trains volunteers as necessary.
Teaches self care, maternal and child care, and other subjects related to individual and
community.
Documents home visits and all patient related activities on appropriate forms.
Visits homes to determine patient and family needs, develops plan to meet needs, and
provides nursing services.
Attends professional training, professional seminars, and staff meetings as required.
Performs communicable disease reporting, investigation and follow-up with agency
policy.
isCarries out other Health Department activities as requested or essential to

• program/community functioning.
Evaluates performance with supervisor.

Position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Fifth year college or university program certificate (RN); and related
experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical
• journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to
common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Washington State Driver's License
Valid Washington State Nursing license to be filed with employer.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working expertise in practices of immunizations, family planning, communicable disease
• control, AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, perinatal care of mother and

0 newborns, nutrition, community resources, accident prevention, and school health.
