Timber structures have been approved for cattle passes on outlying roads on which no future pavement is planned. On improvements which are up to the stand- ards that you are constructing tiie Port Ludlow highway, it is recommended that none other than concrete or permanent structures be used. Dear Sir; I have your letter of ~'ay 2Uth.-with blue print showing location of proposed road through my property in Chimacum•Valley and beTore making any moos in this respect it will be necessary for me to have profile or scale,sho4ving the elevation of the propos-ed road in relation to the exist- ing road covering that portion in front of the house as it appears to me that the proposed road will require ~ fill of some considerable height and if so this will probably shut out the view from the harass entirely. In this case it may be necessary to move the hrnzss to the west side of the proposed road ae it would be unreasonable to expect a family to lime in aa:#~ouse whe~ee they could see only a high road-fill in front and a high bluff on the back. dceording to the blue print it will be necessary to move a machine harass from the present location. and destroy some .trait trees which are of considerable value to the place also we have a-water system piped From a spring seat of the house down to the-other buildings and underneath the present roadway. It`is possible that these pipes would have to be torn out and the system renewed. While I do not wish to appear arbitrary in the matter I-feel that considerable dame'tge will be done to the property for which the County will be responsible and that I will receive compensation far same. Edwards, Jefferson t;ounty Engineer; Port Townsend, ~-ashington, .Dear Sir:.. ~~ ~ ~ I-have your letter of June 10th. together with sketch showing the existing and proposed roads through my place on Section$ 25 and 36 near Chimaeum, I note that through my yard,. between the house and barn, the new grade will be approximately ten feet high in places also three fruit trees destroyed, machine shed moved and concrete culvert installed at scat-ion 110 which will cause at times a'iarge amount o_f water to be let down in yard near the barn. This in the whole is going to cause c©nsiderable damage, some of which is going to be of a permanent nature, such as the high grade necessitating driving around same with loads in the barn yard, the destruction of fruit trees ate. However not to hold up the work ana to give you something definate to work on T will state my proposition below '1'he County pay me' as damages the sum of X750.00 which is the equivalent of taxes and drainage assessme-nts for one year. The County provide means whereby the drainage water from culvert at station 110 is taken to some point west of barn, preferrably by sewer pipe but must. not be by open ditch tnrough barn yard, The County provide a suitable crossing of new highway between house and barn whereby T will be able to enter onto and leave highway with heavy loads or :.otherwise. By this t mean not too steep a grade leading up -onto the highway. i~ighway to be fenced on poth sides and si.~table gates installed at crossing. The existing water pipe link to be left ,~lntact between house and cream shed. The present machine shed now on proposed highway to tie moved to a suitable location at expense of County.
