Purpose: Certify August 06, 2024 Primary Election Manual Recount- Commissioner of
Public Lands

Observers Present:
Meeting called to order at ____am by Quinn Grewell, Election Coordinator
The Canvassing Board met August 20, 2024 at 1:01 pm to certify the Results of the Jefferson County
August 6, 2024 Primary Election.
On August 22, 2024 the Secretary of State Certified the statewide results for the August 6, 2024 Primary
Election. With the Commissioner of Public Lands race having 51 votes (0.0064%) difference the
Secretary of State directed each county canvassing board to complete a mandatory manual recount.
On August 23, 2024 the Canvassing Board met and gave authority to the Jefferson County
Auditor, to continue work, to open secure ballot storage containers, recount ballots for the race of
Commissioner of Public lands, and set costs for the recount and to complete the election.
Required Oath:
The Oath of Authenticity for the County Auditor, given by the County Legislative Authority, and signed by
the Auditor, pursuant to RCW 29A.60.200. Witnessed and signed by the other two Canvassing Board
Members.
Required Notices:
Per RCW 29A.64.030 and RCW 42.30.080 notifications were made to the parties, press, and candidates
via email with notice no less than one day prior to the canvassing board meeting and one day before
beginning the recount process. To notify the public, the press release, agenda and a schedule of event
were posted on our website on August 22, 2024. These notices also included notification of the
certification meeting on September 3, 2024 at 9:00 am.
Logs:
- Seal Logs: Used to verify all election related materials remained under dual control at all
times.
Reconciliation:
- The amended abstract shows the votes cast in each precinct.
- Discrepancies- None, the total amount of votes cast and tabulated on August 20, 2024
was equal to the total amount of votes manually counted during the recount.

Miscellaneous:
Security:
• All materials for canvassing this election were stored in secure storage. Secure storage is a
container or room that stores voted ballots and electronic data containing voted ballot images.
Secure storage must employ the use of numbered seals and logs that document each individuals
access to the voted ballots or voted ballot images, and detect inappropriate access to the secure
storage. Voted ballots and voted electronic ballot images must remain in secure storage except
during processing, duplication, resolution, inspection by the canvassing board, or tabulation.
• Immediately after tabulation, all ballots counted are sealed in containers that identify the election
and retained for 22 months.
Canvass Materials:
- All canvassing materials for this election recount will be packed for retention and given to the
records manager.
Certificate of Canvassing Board signed.
