Immigrant Restaurant Owner Needs Your Support
A family, who has lived in Port Townsend for a number of years and have been operating the Mexican restaurant Hacienda Tizapan for the last five years, have suffered a tremendous setback.
Marcos, the owner of this family-run restaurant, was rear ended on July 30th of this summer by another motorist at the new roundabout here in Port Townsend. His injuries are serious
and include a concussion, lumbar, back and knee injuries. Marcos, who continues to undergo treatment, was told by his doctors at Jefferson Healthcare he cannot work for at least the
next two months, at which time he will be reevaluated.
Marcos is the only chef of Hacienda Tizapan, preparing all the food and supervising the other workers including his wife Sandra and son. The restaurant can not operate Without him, and
they will need to close the restaurant at least until November 1.
Even though a police report has been filed, showing the other driver is at fault and an insurance claim has been made, the case is still open with no resolution yet.
The family has been a big supporter of JCIRA since we moved in to our Multicultural Center next to their restaurant. We are asking our supporters now to give what they can to help the
family get through the next few difficult months. They will need some help to cover the rent for their house and other household expenses while the restaurant is closed.
