Re: Shoreline Exemption and Approval , Storm Drainage Extension
Dear Mr. Stricklin:
I wish to confirm our conversation regarding the proposed extension
of the storm drainage pipe near the intersection of Mater and Scott Street
within the city of Port Townsend. The proposal consists of extending the
existing pipe fifty feet to a point just upland of the toe of the bank by
the shoreline. The new pipe would be perforated and buried approximately
five to ten feet deep.
In reviewing the project, this office has determined that the proposed
development is minor construction since it has a fair market value of under
$1,000 and is situated upland of the shore's ordinary high water mark.
Therefore, the project is approved with the condition that the extension
will not cause an increase in upland sediment entering Port Townsend Bay.
The placement of an ample amount of crushed gravel below the pipe and
between the pipe's terminus and the shoreline should alleviate potential
sediment run-off.
If you have any questions , feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
