SECTION ENGINEERING 2(18-37•-541/206- 110 1 DESCRIPTION AND CALCULATIONS Project Description: The project consists of the design of a 2 bedroom septic system and drainfield serving one future residence on a 5+ acre parcel off of Southport Lane, east of Hwy. 20,Port Townsend. Project Owner: David Hayden 4461 245th Pl. S.E. Issaquah,WA 98027 Project Representative: Guy Sands 504 Monroe St. Port Townsend, WA 98368 Ph. 385-2056 Legal Description: Portion of Government Lot 3, Section 8, Township 29N,Range 1W. WM. Assessor's Parcel Number: 901-081-024 References: 1. Onsite Wastewater Treatment Manual by US EPA,Oct. 1980 2. Soil Survey of Jefferson County,WA by USDA SCS Aug. 1975 3. On-Site Sewage Disposal Systems WAC 248-96 by WS Board of Health,Rev.Nov. 1989 4. Guidelines For The Use of Pressure Distribution Systems by WS TRC Sept. 1984 5. Guidelines For Sand Filters by WS TRC August 2, 1989. Site Description: The site consists of an almost rectangular shaped 5.6 acre parcel. Dimensions of the parcel are roughly as follows: the north line, being the center line of an easement for approximately half of the length, is 1070'+/-with a bearing of almost due east; the east line is 264'+/-,this line being in common with the section line between sections 8 and 9,bearing due south; the south line is 1102'+/-and is parallel to the north line, having the same bearing, the west line is 236'+/-,intersecting with the north west corner at the center line of the easement previously mentioned. For descriptions of the easements, see Volume 79 of Deeds,Page 422, and auditors file nos. 152046, 227265,227552,and 296043. The access to the site is via this easement commencing at the northwest corner following the north property line eastward for approximately 500',then continues at a nearly 45 degree angle southeasterly across the width of the parcel, physically dividing the parcel into west and east sections. The easement continues, angling southwesterly into and across the southerly adjacent parcel. To the east of this easement, the parcel is further encumbered with both a Port Townsend water line easement and Puget Power easement. The parcel has been cleared of most of the large trees and undergrowth vegetation on the south and west sides of the road easement, in the vicinity of the proposed home site. An existing well, lacking power and pump is located across the road easement in the eastern section of the parcel, and an unfinished,un-culverted,dirt driveway entering the west portion of the parcel 25'+/-southeast of the well. There were no other improvements to the property evident at the time of initial evaluation. The slopes of the property are inconsistent from the east section of the property to the west section. The east section of the parcel was not closely evaluated, however, appeared to have a heavily vegetated ravine droping from approximately 30' to the northeast of the incomplete driveway described above. The west portion of the parcel slopes generally north and westerly at 8%+/-drainfield area becoming steeper progressing downslope to the proposed house site and beyond. From the drainfield area/house site looking westward beyond the trees is a view of Discovery Bay and the west side of the Miller Peninsula. Soil Conditions: The site is an area mapped by the SCS (pgs. 48,45)as Alderwood gravelly sandy loam(A1C),Alderwood gravelly loam(AmD) Everett . i dy loam(EvD),(EvC)and Tukey gravelly loam uC).4he •ils • • site most closely represent those descri.-s as Alde •od. •e initial site evaluation was conducted on Feb : 1' 5 by an Porto and Tom Morello,Tillman Engineering,Inc.,wi Guy Sands, the contractor/representative ft. a e home o. • - . It was recommended to Guy Sands that new holes be dug uphill and near the vegetated areas in the undisturbed areas of the property. The second set of test holes were dug by Bemt Erickson. Aril { 1gg5 The second evaluation was conducted on February 7, 1995. Water tables in these holes varied from 6"to 24"730". Tillman Engineering called Linda Atkins R. S.,Jefferson County Health Department,to explain the situation and schedule an appointment on site to discuss design options. We met on site on February 9, 1995,and it was agreed that a sand filter with a 6"installation depth pressure drainfield in the vicinity of the deepest soils would be proposed to serve for sewage disposal on the site. The soils can be described as follows: The upper horizon was a dark brown sandy loam topsoil, extending from the surface to 3"/10"; The second horizon was a distinctly mottled, moist, tan sandy loam, with some gravel, extending from 3"/10"to 18"/24"; The third horizon was a gray wet, compacted, sandy clay loam extending to water table. Vegetation: The site is divided between completely cleared areas and bordering native growth. The areas of native vegetation were dominated by cedar, immature alders, and possibly some willows, unclear due to the time of year of evaluation. The undergrowth was thick in briars, salal and sword fern. Other Information: 2 I ic°G; e S.-.S° "y:.) FOR GENERAL NOTES: ONSTRUCTIO ' , PROJECT CONTACTS: A. Owner: David Hayden 4461 245th P1. S.E.
