New temporary speed limit coming to US 101 east of Forks
FORKS – Travelers who use US 101 between Forks and Lake Crescent will see a new temporary speed limit through spring 2025.
What to expect
During summer, the speed limit was reduced to 25 mph from 60 mph at a US 101 work zone near Wisen Creek Road <https://links-1.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwsdot.wa.gov%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2F

2> . Active work to replace an outdated culvert under the highway is complete for the rest of this year.
Starting Monday, Sept. 30, a new temporary speed limit of 40 mph will go into effect between mileposts 208.8 and 209.88. The new speed limit is enforceable as soon as signs are uncovered.
Why this is happening
Crews worked through summer to complete a bridge on westbound US 101. One lane of traffic is open on the new bridge. Eastbound US 101 will remain on a temporary bypass lane until the

When crews return to this site in late spring 2025, the speed limit will once again decrease to 25 mph. Active work will resume to improve fish habitat under the highway. Work is scheduled
to be complete in fall 2025.
