MINUTES
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Regular Meeting — Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
First Floor Conference Room, Jefferson County Courthouse
1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368 (Hybrid)
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Margaret Taylor called the meeting to order in the presence of Board of
Equalization(BOE)Vice Chair Pete Raab, Member Joe Langjahr and Member Joni Blanchard.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Chair Taylor called for public comments, and none were received.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: This item was tabled for a future meeting.
REVIEW AND ACKNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT CORRECTIONS AND PETITION

HEARINGS: Before each individual hearing, Chair Taylor placed the appellants (if present) and
appraiser staff under oath. The Board conducted hearings for the following appeals:
9:36 a.m. to 10:06 a.m.

BOE members requested additional information on comparables from Appraiser Lockhart. Although the
hearing was closed, due to new information received via the Appellants response to the comparables,the
hearing was continued to March 12,2024 at 11:30 a.m.

Chair Taylor recessed the meeting at 10:21 a.m. and reconvene the meeting at 10:30 a.m. with all BOE
members present.

CLOSING REMARKS: Assessor Jeff Chapman was present and answered questions posed by BOE
members, and explained how comparables work.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: After providing closing remarks, Chair Taylor adjourned the meeting
at 11:10 a.m. until the next regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed.
