MINUTES
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Regular Meeting — Tuesday, February 8, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
Commissioners Chambers, Jefferson County Courthouse
1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368 (Hybrid)
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Margaret Taylor called the meeting to order in the presence of Board of
Equalization(BOE)Vice Chair Pete Raab, Member Joe Langjahr and Member Joni Blanchard.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Chair Taylor called for public comments, and none were received.
CLOSED SESSION: A Closed Session was originally scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Chair
Taylor announced that the Closed Session will be held from 9:36 a.m. to 10:36 a.m. to deliberate on
individual tax appeals, not subject to the Open Public Meetings Act, as outlined in RCW 42.30.140(2).
ACTION ITEMS: The Board resumed the Regular Meeting at 10:36 a.m. and took the following
actions after Closed Session:

Chair Taylor noted that the Board will not take-action on a determination at this time to allow the
Appellants time to respond to the supplemental materials provided by the Assessor's Office. Ultimately,
the hearing was continued to March 12, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.

Chair Taylor moved to sustain the Assessor's value. Member Blanchard seconded the motion. Chair
Taylor called for public comment on the motion, and no comments were received. She called for a vote
on the motion. The motion carried by a unanimous vote.

Chair Taylor moved to sustain the Assessor's value. Member Langjahr seconded the motion. Chair
Taylor called for public comment on the motion, and no comments were received. She called for a vote
on the motion. The motion carried by a unanimous vote.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chair Taylor adjourned the meeting at 10:39 a.m. until the next
regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed.
