Staff Present Matt Tyler, Chelsie Kilmer, Chris Macklin Public Present Laura Pollock OPMA Requirements met? (0:00) Yes. Call to Order (0:04) Jon Cooke called the meeting to order at 3:02 pm. Public Comment (1:21) Laura Pollock, District #2 Agenda adopted (1:30) Moved by Vern, seconded by Bob, and carried all in favor: to adopt the agenda with the change of switching the subcommittee reports with the new business. Minutes approved (2:35) Moved by Vern, seconded by Bob, and carried all in favor: to accept meeting minutes from February 1, 2024. OPEN FORUM FOR BOARD MEMBERS (3:22) Vern shared his Irondale Beach caretaker responsibilities had started Monday. He’ll be down there every Monday 10am-1pm. Bob reviewed the last meeting and added his interests as board member: Chimacum Park, trails are his passion, and collaboration (user groups, organizations, & agencies) & Community involvement. His dream is to connect all trails in Jefferson County. Would like to participate in the Chimacum Park & Trails Subcommittee. Susie continues to design signs for HJ Carroll Park. NEW BUSINESS (07:08) Marianne Walters arrived. (07:08) Bob Bates Field program and facility update – Gavin Rogers, East Jefferson Little League (EJLL) President Gavin gave a presentation that reviewed the Bob Bates Fields and the EJLL program. 11.2 acres- all volunteer maintained. EJLL will be looking for grant funding and asked for support from the Board. Q&A from the board followed the presentation. The board continued discussions about Recreation needs in Jefferson County. (49:20) Jefferson County Recreation Program Review with Chris Macklin, Assistant Recreation Manager Chris Macklin reviewed Jefferson County’s Recreation program resources, statistics, partnerships, and the planning involved to make it all happen. Marianne Walters left – quorum maintained. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS (1:04:45) Chimacum Park – Vern presented the Chimacum Park Subcommittee proposal. Next steps: • Chimacum Park Subcommittee meeting with Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour. • Board reviews JCPRAB Chimacum Park Policy Recommendation from February 2020 and sets up a workshop with the BOCC. Trails & Connectivity Subcommittee Bob expressed interest in a Trails Subcommittee. (1:10:41) Moved by Bob, Seconded by Vern, and carried all in favor: to form a Subcommittee that is focused on trails and connectivity. Subcommittee members: Susie, Bob, Vern, Karin (1:12:13) Volunteering/Outreach Update– Chelsie asked the board to participate at Jefferson County’s table in the Chimacum Job Fair on May 10. She will send out more information to the interested board members. OLD BUSINESS (1:16:30) Park tour briefing. Tour is set for April 25, meet at 8:50am at Chimacum Park. Wrap up at 2:00pm at Indian Island Park.
