Naming a Private Road
Reynolds Road or
Bethel Road or
Robin Road
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has received a petition (Exhibit "A") to name a private road,
as shown on attached map (Exhibit "B"), either Reynolds Road or Bethel Road or Robin Road;
and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name, pursuant to the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance Number 2-0401-91, to allow for addressing
along the road; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are currently four (4) addresses assigned at
milepost 9.10 on State Route 20; and
WHEREAS, notification was sent to agencies and adjacent property owners; and
WHEREAS, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD#1) and Jeff Com support either Reynolds
Road or Bethel Road; and '
WHEREAS, no negative responses were received for the first name choice of Reynolds
Road;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the road be named Reynolds Road.
ADOPTED THIS 26th DAY OF MARCH, 2007.

Naming a private road
Statement of Issue: A property owner has submitted a petition to name a private road
giving the following three name choices: Reynolds Road, Bethel Road and Robin Road.
This road, as shown on Exhibit "B" of the resolution is located at milepost 9.10 left on
State Route 20, Port Townsend.

Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's & Con's: The petitioner has applied for an address for his
property located on this private drive. There are currently four (4) addresses assigned on
this drive however the last remaining number available would be out of sequence.
Because this may cause confusion for emergency responders and a delay in response time,
this road must be named before assigning the petitioner's address. This complies with
the Jefferson County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance #2-0401-91 (JCC 12.20).
Notices wer~ mailed to all adjacent property owners and affected agencies on February
21, 2007; East Jefferson Fire-Rescue (FPD#1) and JeffCom 911 both support both of the
first two choices, but do not support the third choice. Several calls were received
objecting to naming the road, however, following discussion regarding the reasons for and
need to name the road, no comments were received regarding the name choices.
FiscallmpactlCost Benefit Analysis: None
Recommendation: The BOCC is asked to consider the petition, the responses received
from East Jefferson Fire-Rescue and name the road Reynolds Road by signing the attached
resolution.
